I have noticed a significant increase in the number of mobile speed traps in Oxfordshire.
The location of anonymous white vans so that they cannot be easily spotted indicates to me that the campaign is less to do with road safety and more to do with income generation. I would like to know what monthly targets Thames Valley Police have for revenue from fixed and mobile speed cameras.
I would also like to know how many police and civilian man hours per month are engaged in this work.
The force is always complaining it is undermanned and under-resourced. Any victim of burglary or car crime knows how difficult it is to get a response.
When the police do investigate, we know that it is the last we will hear from them. We have no confidence in a proper investigation being made,
Our society is drug and crime-ridden, for which the police have inadequate manpower, yet they seem to target otherwise law-abiding citizens for minor speed infringements. When large numbers of people find their licences in jeopardy, insurance costs soaring, and even their livelihoods at risk, it will not be surprising if their feelings of victimisation and alienation turn to anger.
