Banbury Utd 1, Tonbridge Angels 3
Top-of-the-table Tonbridge gave Banbury United a lesson in finishing at Spencer Stadium on Saturday.
In an exciting game of relatively few chances, the Angels came back from a goal down to extend their lead at the top of the Dr Martens League Eastern Division.
In the 29th minute, Simon Tricker made a spectacular save from Ray Powell, and ten minutes later, he denied Hamid.
An injury to Chris Potter saw Liam O'Neill enter the fray at half-time, and just 35 seconds after coming on, he latched on to a right-wing cross from Ady Fuller and rifled a shot past the despairing dive of Angels' keeper Jamie Turner.
If Banbury thought that the goal would give them the impetus to boss the game, they were sadly mistaken, because Tonbridge took control.
And they equalised on 56 minutes through Barr, before the same player fired Tonbridge in front eight minutes later.
Banbury were unlucky in the 72nd minute when Ollie Stanbridge curled a shot around the keeper but agonisingly wide of a post.
In the 75th minute, it was 3-1, when Nick Barnes cracked the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box after a goalmouth scramble.
Two minutes later, Banbury went close to a second, when a cross from Chris Jackson was met by Mark Simms, and his header cleared Turner in the Angels goal, but curled just wide.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Fuller, Jackson, Robinson, Allen, Eldridge (Spriggs 53, Taylor 81), Stanbridge, Billington, Simms, Redknap, Potter (O'Neill 46). Subs not used: Sullivan, Stidder.
Attendance: 346.
