Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson has described plans to make a blockbuster film about his life as "flattering".

As revealed in the Oxford Mail on January 10, Sir Richard, who has a home in Kidlington, has been involved in talks with Hollywood producers in Los Angeles about the movie, which industry sources claim may feature Jude Law, Colin Farrell or Brad Pitt.

Rights to Sir Richard's autobiography Losing My Virginity were snapped up by film company Crystal Sky last year.

It is not yet known whether the $50m film -- likely to copy the name of the book -- will track Sir Richard's entire life or focus on major events.

Sir Richard, who is in LA on business, said: "It's very flattering, but my wife Joan thinks you ought to be dead before they make a film about you."

He declined to comment on who might play him, but added: "I saw a list of names and some of them were quite impressive.

"I would be happy for any of them to play me -- as long as they were good looking, of course."

Sir Richard said he had been approached several times about making the film. But it was only four months ago after a meeting with Stephen Paul, chief executive of Crystal Sky, that a deal was sealed.

The meeting was brokered by actor Jon Voight -- father of Angelina Jolie -- who is a mutual friend of the two men.

A Virgin spokesman said: "It will be using Richard as a reflection on society -- viewing the world through his eyes.

"It will be a reflection of the way Britain has changed over the years."
