A two-day music spectacular headed by pianist Jools Holland is being planned as a major attraction in Oxford City Council's 2004 events programme.
But residents living near Cutteslowe Park are concerned about traffic congestion and are demanding that they are fully consulted.
Last July, Mr Holland played to more than 5,000 people in the north Oxford park. The concert caused congestion on the A40 last year, and residents living nearby in Harbord Road and Templar Road want access for traffic to be improved.
It is understood they have also asked that the Oxford Mail Motor Show is not held in the park this summer.
After a residents' meeting they contacted the city council, asking to are consulted about this year's events. A draft programme will be ready by the end of January.
Tom Cairns, of Harbord Road, said: "Most people support the Balloon Fiesta, but with the Motor Show, there were massive trucks coming through the night."
Peter Johnson, executive member for leisure, said promoters were so pleased with last year's concert they now wanted to stage a two-day event. No decision had been made about the Motor Show, he added.
Shamus Donald, managing director of Newsquest Oxfordshire, publisher of the Oxford Mail, said: "Cutteslowe Park has served us well as the venue for the Motor Show and it would be a shame if we had to move elsewhere.
"We're more than happy to sit down with the residents to see what we can do to improve things for them."
