Oxford City Stars' Marlon Williams was controversially ejected for headbutting during the 7-4 win over Milton Keynes Thunder at the Oxpens Ice Rink.

Williams was unhappy with the decision as he claimed his helmet only connected with the Thunder player accidentally as he tried to jerk free while his head was being held down.

His dismissal and that of teammate Gary Slevin for dissent marred the victory for Stars, who were maintaining their 100 per cent record.

Stars began well in front of a crowd of more than 300, with three goals in the first three minutes through.

Derek Flint, Slevin and Dan Prachar.

Milton Keynes hit back with two goals in the space of a minute from Mark Krater and Paul Jamieson.

Aram Todd hit the equaliser after ten minutes on a Thunder powerplay, shooting past injured Stars netminder Jamie Thompson.

Late in the period, Milton Keynes took the lead when former Stars player James Roberts forced the puck past Oxford's back-up goalie Andy Webster.

Flint equalised for Oxford early in the second period before Stars regained the lead with a goal credited to Prachar.

Stars extended the lead with a powerplay goal by Luke Plasted, who went on to take the player-of-the-match award.

Paul Crockett scored what proved to be the final goal of the game even though there was half an hour left.

Oxford scorers: Flint 2+2, Prachar 2+1, Slevin 1+2, Crockett 1+0, Plasted 1+0, Elliott 0+3, Carr 0+2.
