Thomas McLellan, a chemical engineer from Abingdon who helped design major projects abroad, has died, aged 81.
For most of his working life Mr McLellan, who lived at Abingdon Marina, worked as a design engineer for chemical firm ICI. He helped build a fertiliser plant for the company at Kanpur in India.
Brought up in Scotland, Mr McLellan graduated from Glasgow University in chemical engineering. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Mr McLellan and his wife Nancy moved to Abingdon 10 years ago to be close to their daughter Carolyn, who lives in Sutton Courtenay.
Mr McLellan was an active member of the Conservative Party and steward at St Helen's Church.
After a private cremation, a thanksgiving service for his life was held at St Nicolas Church in Abingdon.
