Former Launton WI president Constance Burrows has died, aged 81.
Mrs Burrows, who lived in Launton, died on January 5.
She was a long-standing member of the village's WI and had held several offices, including president, vice-president and secretary.
She came to Oxfordshire at the start of the Second World War when she moved out of London after the Ancient Order of Druids, a friendly society she worked for, was evacuated to Noke, near Islip.
Mrs Burrows later joined the Women's Land Army at Mill Farm, Islip. Shortly after her move she met her husband Bill, whose family ran a nearby farm.
They celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary last July. They had a son and a daughter, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Monica Matthews, of Sherwood Close, Launton, said: "She will be sadly missed. I met Connie about 50 years ago when we were both young and had small children. We had both been in the WI ever since then."
She said Mrs Burrows had put a lot of effort into village life.
Mrs Burrows' funeral was due to take place at 3pm on January 15 at Oxford Crematorium.
