A factory worker kicked and racially abused a post office manager after trying to buy a tax disc with a forged insurance document, a court heard.
Abubakar Sidi Abubakar, 38, of Ashhurst Way, Oxford, pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday to common assault, attempting to obtain property by deception, driving without insurance and careless driving.
Tony McGeorge, prosecuting, said Abubakar had agreed to tax and insure two vehicles for friends.
He said Abubaker took two forged insurance certificates to Banbury Post Office at about closing time on October 8, 2002. Once there, Abubaker argued that he was entitled to a lower rate of tax.
When staff refused to sell him a tax disc, Abubaker started shouting and when the manager, Lynne Jones, tried eject him he kicked her and called her "white trash".
A short time later Abubakar returned to the post office, which was shut. Hearing police sirens he drove off and jumped two red traffic lights. He stopped after losing control of his vehicle and was arrested after a short chase.
Chris Badger, defending, said Abubakar was a father with a job in a silicon chip factory. He added that Abubaker's mother, father and sister had recently died in a car accident in Nigeria.
Abubakar was given a three-month jail term for fraud and a further three-month prison term for assault, to run concurrently. He was also ordered to pay Miss Jones £100.
For driving while disqualified he was banned from driving for six months and sentenced to three months in prison, to run consecutively.
There was no separate penalty for careless driving and having no insurance.
