The future of a Wallingford pre-school could be in jeopardy unless the town council hurries up with its planned refurbishment of the Regal Centre, it has been claimed.
A forthcoming Ofsted inspection of the school and its premises could be the final straw, said town council member Amanda Griffin.
She said: "I don't think Ofsted will do so, but they could justifiably close us down because of the condition of the huts we are using."
The Rainbow Pre-School meets in the wooden huts in Wallingford's Bullcroft Park and its future is intimately linked with the town centre Regal facelift.
Once the Regal is done, the Citizens' Advice Bureau and the handbell ringers will move out of one of the wooden huts in the Bullcroft into the refurbished premises.
The pre-school will move into the CAB building and the pre-school building will be pulled down.
The pre-school will then have its own new building on the site, will move into that and the CAB building will be pulled down.
Co-ordinating the moves has taken more than two years.
