Oxford are unhappy that a clash of league and cup dates will prevent them from fielding a full-strength side for the Oxfordshire Cup quarter-final at home to Chinnor on Sunday (2.30).
The North Hinksey-based club have been told they must play their rearranged Berks Bucks & Oxon League Division 1 match at Thatcham tomorrow.
The league have insisted that the twice-delayed match must go ahead as Oxford had failed to specify the day as a league date.
Each club is allowed to name two Saturdays a season on which league matches can't be played.
At the start of the season, Bill Allen, the Oxfordshire cup organiser, e-mailed clubs to make sure they specified this weekend.
Oxford spokesman Tubby Tyrrell said: "We have no knowledge of any such e-mail regarding this subject."
Allen said the e-mail went to Oxford RFC chairman Andy Olley, and that the message was repeated in the county handbook.
"It's not our fault, if Oxford failed to act on our notice," said Allen, who has refused the club's request to move the cup tie.
