Midfielder Justin Lee is set to play his last game for Oxford City on Saturday after agreeing to sign for Dr Martens Eastern Division side Banbury United.
It is a blow for City boss Andy Sinnott, who saw the former England Youth captain - in his second spell at Court Place Farm, having left Thame two seasons ago - as an important part of his team plans.
Sinnott said: "I had a long discussion with Justin, but he was made an offer he couldn't refuse. It's a shame to see him go, but I'm a realist.
"I have the utmost respect for Justin. He has kept me informed the whole time. He told me it had nothing to do with his dad Paul (who resigned as City manager last month) leaving the club.
"Justin was with me at Thame for two years, and in every game he has played for me he has put in nothing less that 110 per cent commitment."
Lee is set to meet his new teammates next week, after hopefully helping City to end their home hoodoo against Ryman League Division 1 North basement boys Barking.
