Chesham United 6,

Thame United 1

Chesham were far too good for a depleted Thame side as they hit six goals past Mark West's outfit in Ryman League Division 1 North.

It was the first time since October 1997 that Thame had conceded six goals, but they could have no complaints as goals flowed at regular intervals.

Chris Herron fired Chesham in front on 23 minutes, then Dave Fotheringham doubled the advantage ten minutes before half-time.

Just before the break, a careless backpass from Tom Goffe set Gary Sippetts away, but with the linesman's flag raised, Thame's defence stopped as Sippett's cross was tapped in by John Lawford.

Thame protested that Lawford was offside, but amazingly, referee Toyer allowed the goal to stand.

The visitors had a good spell in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, but then the experienced Andy Adebowale headed home a fourth, before Herron scored his second and Chesham's fifth on 69 minutes.

Adebowale completed Thames misery when he exploited Steve Smith's poor positioning to chip home from outside the box.

Goffe scored a late consolation for Thame.
