AFTER a 106-61 defeat away to leaders Worcester on Saturday, Oxford Devils bounced back to defeat Hackney White Heat 99-90 the following day at the Vale of White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre.
Devils went into a commanding 31-8 lead at the end of the first period against Hackney, with Carl Black and Phil Alexander unstoppable at the offensive end.
However, White Heat stormed back to reduce the deficit to 47-40 at the half-time break.
Both teams battled to gain the upper hand in the third period, which ended with Hackney leading 68-63 and the Devils having all the work to do.
By the fourth minute of the final period, the home side had regained the lead, only to see the visitors claw it back and go five points in front with three minutes remaining.
Devils' captain Keith Kelly then made a series of successful foul shots to put his side in command to seal a great win which consolidates their place in mid-table.
Kelly finished the pick of the Devils' scorers with 23 points, with Phil Alexander, Pemble Bristol and Neil Baker all close behind with 19.
Gerry Armstrong finished top-scorer on 18 against Worcester, followed by Kelly (16) and Alexander (14).
Devils' next home game is against Westminster Warriors this Saturday with a change of tip-off time to 3.45.
