Sutton A turned up the heat at the top of Didcot & District League Division 1 by whitewashing title rivals Rutherford Atomic Laboratory A 10-0.

Karl Bushell, Ray Powell and Richard Knight all recorded maximums to take Sutton a point clear at the summit. Rutherford stay third.

At the other end of the table, Drayton A remain rooted to the bottom after suffering a heavy 9-1 defeat at the hands of Didcot Power Station B.

Mark Stretton and Clive Mitchell won three games apiece, before combining to take the doubles and leave Drayton in deep trouble.

The Division 2 championship has developed into a four-horse race.

Abingdon D boosted their title hopes with an important win over Sutton C.

Mark Adams registered an impressive maximum and also took the deciding doubles with Tom Whale in a five-game thriller.

Substitute Lubo Spassov also contributed to an important win.

In the basement battle, Howbery A beat Letcombe B 6-4, with Eric and Chris Hasker winning the vital doubles.

Letcombe B also lost 6-4 to Drayton C, with Paul Soul recording a maximum for the victors.

In Division 3, struggling Howbery B lost 7-3 to second-placed Didcot Power Station E, for whom Peter Sinclair won his three games.

Bottom team Rutherford Atomic Laboratory D lost 7-3 to Letcombe C, with Tom Saunders unbeaten on the night.

At the other end, Abingdon E kept their promotion hopes alive after drawing 5-5 with Drayton E.

Mike Street reeled off a maximum for Drayton, and also took a five-game doubles with Iain Stuart.

In Division 4, Abingdon H kept up their chase of the pacesetting Moreton teams with a 6-4 victory over Wall- ingford.

Alan Rolfe was their star performer with a maximum.
