Didcot's Red Cross Shop has gone upmarket after a major refit.
Cathy Bindon with new manager Lyn Head
Area retail manager Cathy Bindon said the shop in lower Broadway, which opened in 1984, had been virtually rebuilt after it was forced to close nearly two years ago because of drainage problems.
Mrs Bindon said: "The enforced closure provided an opportunity to extend the premises, including the installation of a toilet for the disabled."
Mrs Head was previously an Avon Cosmetics area sales manager for 15 years.
The refurbished shop was reopened by the mayor and mayoress, Dr David Giaretta and his wife Pip. Mrs Head said she was hoping to boost the number of volunteers from four to 20.
People should call at the shop or ring 01235 815754. Meanwhile, Didcot's Red Cross Loan premises, based at the South and Vale Carers' Centre in Lydalls Road, has been forced to close because the storage does not meet building standards.
People have to travel to Abingdon to use the loan service which provides wheelchairs, commodes and other equipment.
