Captain Will Trigg hit a hat-trick as Abingdon recorded only their second South League Division 1 victory of the season with a 3-2 win over local rivals Bicester at Cooper School to move off the bottom.

Trigg opened the scoring midway through the first half through a penalty stroke after he was tripped by the Bicester keeper.

However, Bicester then grabbed two goals in as many minutes to take the lead.

Firstly, a weak Wayne Dobbins shot was deflected over his own goalkeeper by Abingdon's Matt Leney for the equaliser, and then Bicester added a second.

But, on the stroke of half-time, Trigg equalised for Abingdon, firing a penalty corner strike low into the corner.

Abingdon's winner came ten minutes from time when Ron Smith took the ball down the right wing and pulled it back to Trigg, who flicked his shot high into the net from eight yards.

Rover Oxford won 2-0 at South Bucks to leapfrog their rivals into second place.

With the low dazzling sun behind them in the second period, Rover made the breakthrough when Richard Dodds set up Greg Horne to score.

A second soon followed after good work by Daniel Smyth left the keeper stranded, and his pass across goal was deflected in by a defender's stick.

In Division 2, Wallingford shared the spoils with Enfield in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Wallingford twice led in the first half through strikes by Angus Jones and Dan Richardson.

However, Enfield grabbed an equaliser on each occasion and then scored twice after the break to take charge.

But Wallingford kept battling and netted twice in the last five minutes through Rob Atkins and Alun Lloyd following a short corner.

Witney drew 1-1 at Harrow in a game of two penalty incidents.

The visitorsy took the field with little pre-match preparation and fell behind, but equalised with a penalty flick from Steve Bates.

Jon Watkins turned aside a short corner, but when he was penalised for a crunching block on a Harrow forward, Witney faced the cruel prospect of losing to a controversial penalty. But the decision was overturned and the game ended even.

Other scores: Rover Oxford 2nd 5 (N Strange, A Wynd 2, M Hunter, J Rogers), Hayes 2nd 0.
