Three community projects in Oxfordshire have received a £150,000 bonus in the form of landfill tax credit grants from waste recycling group Wren.
In Wantage, the Ridgeway Centre Community Room will receive £30,000, the Ducklington Village Hall restoration project gets £50,000 and Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust collects £70,000.
The grants aim to improve community life by improving existing facilities as well as providing new ones, including play areas and village halls.
The tax credit scheme gives waste management companies the opportunity to invest up to 6.5 per cent of their landfill tax bill in community, environmental, historic buildings and waste minimisation education projects in their areas.
Wren administers credits from the Waste Recycling Group's activities in Oxfordshire. Community groups which want details of how to apply for grants should visit the organisation's website at www.wren.org.uk or call 01953 717165.
