Henley jumped out of the relegation zone with a crucial 28-23 victory at bottom club Manchester.
The four points they secured helped Henley to move above both Coventry and Wakefield into tenth place.
Oxford University No 8 Tom Hayman gave the visitors the lead with a try after four minutes, which Barry Reeves converted.
Stuart Brown put Manchester on the scoreboard two minutes later with a penalty goal.
Reeves replied with a penalty for the Hawks and then converted a try from left wing Kene Ejikeme for a 17-3 lead.
The Hawks fly half then dropped a goal, but the final score of the first half went to the home side, with second row Nick Rouse going over for a try.
Nine minutes into the second half, Manchester closed to within a score as scrum half James Bramhall went over for a try.
But Henley hit back three minutes later with a try from Nnamdi Obi.
Reeves could not convert, but he landed a penalty four minutes later to put the visitors three scores ahead.
Manchester finished strongly, scoring tries through hooker Michael Armstrong and Chris Simmonds to give their side two bonus points - one for four tries and the another for losing by less than seven points.
