John Sargent, estate manager at the Northmoor Trust, saw how effectively Transco used bog mats -- which prevent heavy vehicles getting stuck - while laying a pipeline next to College Farm, Little Wittenham, near Didcot.
He said: "We established the poultry project a year ago and access to the poultry shelters was extremely difficult.
"I wondered if Transco would let us have some of their mats when they had finished."
Transco was happy to oblige. New mats would have cost nearly £50,000.
