Award-winning former Oxford Mail journalist George Frew, who died last year following a battle with cancer, was among journalists interviewed for a documentary about Rachel McLean, the Oxford University student murdered by her boyfriend in 1991.
Mr Frew, along with fellow Mail journalist Catherine Houlihan, spoke about the extreme jealously of Rachel's New Zealander boyfriend John Tanner and how police believed soon after Rachel's disappearance that Tanner had murdered her.
However, detectives were unable to arrest Tanner until after Rachel's body was discovered under the floor boards of her Argyle Street home almost three weeks after her disappearance. The documentary was screened on ITV1 on the night of Monday, January 26.
Tanner has since been released from prison.
