A founder member of Bicester Rugby Club, Don Carter, has died in Australia, aged 83.
When the club marked its 50th anniversary in 1998 he returned from Adelaide for the celebrations.
Mr Carter, who played hooker for the club, was educated at Bicester County School.
He inherited Grange Farm, in Launton, near Bicester, from his parents, but he and his wife Joyce decided to emigrate when farming hit hard times.
In Australia he worked for an agricultural research organisation, becoming its chief weed control officer.
Mr Carter and his wife had two sons and a daughter, all of whom live and work in the Adelaide region. Mrs Carter's mother, Gladys, was a councillor with the former Bicester Urban District Council for many years.
Mr Carter died last Thursday and the funeral is in Adelaide on Thursday, January 29.
