Oxford University RFC last night picked their third Australian captain in the last four years when Dave Lubans was chosen to lead them into the 2004 Varsity Match.
Lubans, a versatile forward who has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, beat off four opponents for the job, in a vote involving current Blues.
A member of the Nothern Suburbs club in Sydney, Lubans, who will be 30 next month, captained New South Wales Country XV against the 2001 British Lions and has also led the Australian Barbarians.
Lubans will be winning his third Blue, having played at No 8 in the 2002 Varsity Match, and at lock last year.
