Farncombe Mike is Oxford's leading hope in the Mike Alan Bookmakers Trafalgar Cup which gets under way at the Cowley greyhound track on Tuesday.
The competition, one of the oldest in the greyhound calendar and worth £1,000 to the winner, brings together some of the best youngsters in the country.
Farncombe Mike, trained by Nick Colton, warmed up for his heat with a fine 26.95 spin before racing on Tuesday.
Also representing Oxford are the Terry Atkins-trained Pocket Mechanic and Jim Morgan's Twiglish Jude.
Early indications are that Liz McNair's Linnburn is the one to be on following two open race wins at Sunderland and a 27.36 spin on his first look at Sandy Lane.
The first two in each heat will do battle in Saturday's final.
TUESDAY'S LINE-UP
Heat 1: Ladywell Wizard, Linnburn, Star Of Black, Killeacle Hugh, Keegans Choice, Fastest Flourish.
Heat 2: All Gold, Three Way Ebony, Farncombe Mike, Twiglish Dude, Top Quest, Petes Jaw.
