BMW is looking to attract more women to work at its Mini plant in Cowley, following an undercover report.
Dr Fiona Moore, of Kingston University, spent three months working on the assembly line, and concluded that BMW needed to increase public awareness that the car industry is not just for men.
Just 10 per cent of the workforce are women and most of those are either young and childless or over 40 with grown-up children, she found. Dr Moore said shifts needed to be made more flexible to attract more women with children.
BMW will hold an open day on March 18 for daughters of workers.
