Sutton A extended their lead at the top of Division 1 of the Didcot & District League when they whitewashed Crown.

Karl Bushell, Ray Powell and Richard Knight were the victorious players as they all posted maximums.

But Crown fared better against the Didcot Power Station team, DPS B, who are easing themselves away from the relegation dogfight at the bottom.

Crown grabbed a share of the points when Nigel Taylor and Jeremie Thorez won the doubles.

In the group of sides chasing the Sutton teams at the top, Abingdon A beat the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory team, RAL A, 8-2 with maximums from Craig Campbell and Bob Sym.

DPS D are now second in Division 2 following a 6-4 victory at Drayton B.

Power owed much to Dave Newell, who registered a maximum and combined with Mal Flemming to take the decisive doubles in five.

Abingdon D remain promotion hopefuls after Mark Adams's maximum helped them to a 6-4 win at RAL C.

At the other end of the table, Sutton E beat Sutton D 6-4 with two wins each for Mike Watts jnr, Don Symons and substitute Gavin Bosse.

Two of the four teams chasing second place in Division 3 - DPS E and Abingdon E - fought out a draw, with Abingdon substitute Anne Borrowdale returning a maximum.

Peter Sinclair and Lionel Sheppard rescued a draw for Power Station by winning the doubles.

Abingdon F stayed in the hunt with an 8-2 victory against Drayton D. Lubo Spassov and Wayne Soanes won three apiece and took the doubles together.

Tim Pett lost his 100 per cent record as his bottom team, RAL D, lost to Drayton E, for whom Mike Street won three.

In Division 4, sixth-place Abingdon G kept their promotion hopes alive as maximums from Robert Saunders and Brigit Muller helped them to an 8-2 success at Drayton D.
