Wallingford's riverside pools have been saved - and upgrading work on the car park means flooding will be a thing of the past.
South Oxfordshire District Council is set to provide the money to refurbish the paddling pool and open-air swimming pool.
Subject to approval on February 25, the pool will be open this summer and work will take place next winter.
The cost of the projects, which involve installing underground drainage pipes, will only be determined after they are put out to tender.
The news has delighted campaigners who last year forced the district council into a U-turn when it wanted to close the pools permanently because of damage by floods.
A campaign to keep them open was led by Wallingford Town Council, which is providing £25,000 towards the pool projects, and backed by public demonstrations.
Mayor Betty Atkins said: "This is wonderful news. Now we will keep our fingers crossed that it becomes reality.
"This is a marvellous tribute to all the campaigners, especially the children."
