Oxfordshire's cricketers will get their first taste of Twenty20 pyjama cricket this summer.

The county will take on the combined Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University side in a friendly on the evening of Friday, June 4.

The quickfire 20-over-a-side form of the game proved a big hit with spectators when it was introduced last year.

And Oxfordshire skipper Keith Arnold hopes the fans will flock to The Parks to see his side take on the students.

"If we get a nice evening, then I think we can get a good crowd," he said.

It's certainly going to be an experience playing in pyjamas - it will be a first for me - and I'm looking forward to it.

"But, to be honest, I am not sure the game is really designed for older players like me."

The game will start at 5pm and entrance to The Parks is free as usual.

Oxford University director of sport Jon Roycroft said: "A lot of the old school type of fans might not like Twenty20, but the aim of the ECB academy at Oxford is supposed to be to prepare people for a career in the pro game.

"If we don't give them a grounding in Twenty20, which has really taken off and looks like being around for years, then we are missing a trick."
