Towersey's homeless ducks may soon have a new roof over their heads.
Their previous home had to be removed after someone in the village complained to South Oxfordshire District Council that it was unsightly.
The district council planners said a duck house would need planning permission.
Now talks with the parish council have come up with an idea for a new safe house.
Member Ross Dike said: "The planners wanted full architect's drawings at first but the parish council would not spend public money on something like that.
"Now we have agreed that a reasonable dimensional drawing should suffice, so that is what we will produce."
The village pond was filled in many years ago but was reopened in the 1980s.
Since then a duck house has been a refuge for the birds and villagers want them protected again.
