Oxford Silver Machine boss Nigel Wagstaff hopes to name his new team within the week.
That's the message from the top as Wagstaff, pictured left, jetted off to Poland on Tuesday on a three-day business trip.
He said: "I am going to sort out the bike covers and mudguards while I am there, and also promote my own business, Houghton Hams.
"It will also give me the opportunity to look at some riders."
Greg Hancock is known to be Wagstaff's target for his No 1 rider, but the promoter added: "There are still a few problems. I wish it could be concluded because this is a very busy time for me.
"The team has to be sorted in the next week, and I am hopeful it will be."
Should the Hancock deal crumble, the likes of Peter Karlsson, Billy Hamill and Ryan O'Sullivan would enter the equation.
Meanwhile, work on the Oxford track that has not been touched since the end of last season, begins in earnest this week when it will be re-graded.
Also on the agenda will be the removal of some of the safety fence to allow the new Airtek barriers to be fitted at all four bends.
