Banbury Utd 1, Hastings 0: A spectacular strike from Mark Simms was enough as Banbury United got back to winning ways in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division against their Sussex visitors on Saturday.
The ex-Abingdon Town forward, who was returning after an ankle injury, struck in the 70th minute with a brilliant overhead effort after Jason Allen flicked on substitute Justin Lee's free kick.
The hosts had started nervously as they looked for their first league win since last month, with defender Wayne Blossom going the closest to opening Banbury's account, with a header which was straight at the keeper.
After the break, top-scorer George Redknap headed wide, before Simms struck.
Banbury keeper Simon Tricker pulled off two excellent late saves to ensure victory.
