Berks, Bucks & Oxon: Wallingford shrugged off the disappointment of last week's Powergen Junior Vase defeat with a comfortable 29-8 victory over local rivals Oxford at The Hithercroft.
Despite conceding height and weight advantage in the pack, the home forwards provided enough of a platform for their faster and stronger backs.
Flanker Chris Murray put Wallingford ahead with an unconverted try, Oxford replying with a penalty from fly half Bevan.
The sides then exchanged unconverted tries, Don Jenkins going over for Wallingford, before the home side went ahead with a Henry Venners try under the posts which Olli Henderson converted for a 17-8 lead.
The second half saw Wallingford use the wind to pin Oxford deep into their own 22.
Further tries came from winger Lee Lewis and skipper Henderson, who converted one of them.
Chipping Norton showed signs of rust after a two-week lay-off as they went down 20-14 at home to third-placed Swindon.
Chippy came under pressure for the first 20 minutes, conceding an unconverted try, but the forwards set up position for Paul Nolan to put Jason Gillett over under the posts for Adam Smith to convert.
Swindon then went clear with two unconverted tries either side of half-time.
Chippy fought back, with scrum half Rob Naish and Jon Hickman setting up a try for Ian Hancock which Smith converted.
Another unconverted try from the visitors prompted a concerted spell of Chippy pressure when they opted to run penalties rather than kick, but they could not find the breakthrough.
Gosford All Blacks ran out 25-5 winners over local rivals Abingdon in Division 2.
The visitors came under heavy pressure during the opening exchanges, but Tim Sutton made Abingdon pay for two high tackles by landing two penalties.
Abingdon replied with a try, but the conversion attempt was charged down by Gary Holton.
Gosford went further ahead with a neat drop goal by Alex Borthwick to lead 9-5 at the break, and the second half was one-way traffic.
Sutton's penalty put them further ahead and two tries from Holton, plus a drop goal by Borthwick, saw them home.
Gosford's back row of Lister Metcalfe, Dan Hughes and Kris Wadley were outstanding.
