Aveley 0, Oxford City 0: Oxford City had to settle for a point in an uninspiring Ryman Division 1 North game at mid-table Aveley on Saturday.
A strong wind and a bumpy surface did little to improve the game which saw the return of former favourite Justin Lee, 29, after a short spell at Banbury.
City were fortunate to survive on 13 minutes when Jermain Hughes's shot rebound off the foot of an upright into the hands of keeper Steve Benbow.
Neither side were able to dominate the proceedings and chances were at a premium.
One of the best moves of the game came early in the second half, Lee's 20-yard effort scraping the bar.
In the closing stages, City substitute Kevin Lewis was out of luck when Palmer blocked his strike.
Oxford C: Benbow, Cruse, Crosby, Antonowicz, Brown, Shepherd, Lee (Hamp 57), Champelovier, Dark (Lewis 83), Harper (Wise 72), Ferreira. Sub not used: Smillie.
Referee: J Lodge (Colchester).
City Reserves came from behind to beat Whyteleafe 3-2 at home in the Suburban League with goals from Kenny Hale (2) and Matty Whitehead.
