Thame Utd 2, Wivenhoe Tn 1: A superb save from Thame keeper Steve Smith helped his side to make it three games without defeat in Ryman League Division 1 North with a deserved victory over their more experienced visitors at Windmill Stadium on Saturday.
Despite being hit by injury, Thame, who were up against several ex-professionals, dictated the early exchanges and were ahead on six minutes, Ben Freeman firing home after good build-up work by Mark Jones and Alex Stewart.
Jones had a shot saved by keeper Matt Greenley, before shooting over the bar.
Early in the second half, Jones doubled Thame's lead from Stewart's through ball.
Smith then spilled a shot from Michael Brothers, only to make a superb reflex save from Ben Cranfield.
After Brothers reduced the arrears on 71 minutes, Wivenhoe's Northern Ireland international Adrian Coote had an effort ruled out for handball, before Smith denied him the equaliser with a great save.
Thame Utd: Smith, Mills, Joyce, Freeman, Williams, Avery, Perna, Hirotaka (Hocking 85), Stewart, Jones (Merritt 70), Goffe (Death 78).
Referee: W Ramsay.
Attendance: 121.
