JIM Morgan, one of the few Oxford greyhound trainers to have won a classic race, could have another candidate to challenge for top honours in Twiglish Dude.
The wily veteran, who captured the Oaks way back in 1970 with Perth Pat, is keeping his fingers crossed that the fast-finishing white and black dog can make his mark at the highest level.
Dude, who came to prominence when finishing runner-up to Kegans Choice in the recent Trafalgar Cup, is being tried out over Wimbledon's 480m.
And, given a good performance, a tilt at the Derby cannot be ruled out.
Dude, who has won his last two open races, would also seem a likely candidate for the Cesarewitch at Oxford later in the year.
Morgan said: "We don't know his real potential yet, but he could make up into a fair stayer."
