A robbery in which a man rammed the back of a woman's car before getting out and punching her in the face was premeditated, detectives believe.

The 53-year-old victim was robbed on February 26 at about 3.45pm, after she had withdrawn a substantial amount of cash from the HSBC bank in Summer- town, Oxford.

After hitting her blue Volvo, her attacker got out of his car and apologised to the woman, but then punched her so hard she was left unconscious on the ground.

Det Insp Russell Simp- son, of Oxford police, said: "This was a callous, pre- meditated attack on a middle-aged woman."

The woman managed to stagger home and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries. She has since been discharged.

Detectives have appealed for information about anyone acting suspiciously at the bank or driving off in a car following the incident.

The robber is described as dark-skinned, about 6ft tall, of stocky build, with short hair, wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.
