A teenager has been sent back to prison because he attacked a policeman just eight days after being released part-way through an 18-month sentence.
On February 26, at Bicester Magistrates' Court, James Keane admitted assaulting Pc Ricky Smith on February 14 in Sheep Street, Bicester.
Pc Smith was on patrol and spotted Keane, of Purslane Drive, Bicester, who was wanted on suspicion for another incident. He tried to arrest the 19-year-old, but Keane struggled free and ran off.
Helen Waite, prosecuting, said: "The officer gave chase and finally caught up with him and attempted to wrap his arms around him.
"Keane had his back towards him at the time and was still attempting to run along the road. He lifted his right arm and with force flung his arm towards the officer's face. He was struck by Keane's elbow."
Ms Waite said Keane also used his body weight to push the officer towards a window before running off.
The officer was taken to the Horton Hospital, in Banbury.
Jenny Haslam, defending, said Keane accepted he behaved badly, but denied he struck the officer intentionally.
Keane was recalled to a young offenders' institution and will have to serve the remainder of an 18 month sentence.
Magistrates sentenced him to a further 90 days.
