A gang of five robbers ambushed a man in a Banbury park and rifled through his pockets, stealing £200 cash.

The man was walking through People's Park towards Bath Road, Banbury, at about 11.20am on March 31, when he heard people running behind him as he passed the War Memorial.

Believing them to be joggers, he moved aside to let them past, but was then set upon and pinned to floor by two men, while the others went through his pockets and stole the cash.

The men ran away into Bath Road, leaving the park from the tennis court entrance.

One of the men was wearing light blue jeans and a cream zip-up style jacket.

Another man was wearing a shell-suit. Anyone with information should call Det Sgt Paul Gibbard on 0845 8505 505.
