A man has been charged with murder after a young man was stabbed.
Police sealed off 33 Roebuck Court in Didcot over the weekend as a team of detectives and forensic experts were called in. The man who died was 22 and was named as Ashley Ward, of nearby Nuffield Close.
Mark Cheneler, 32, of Roebuck Court, was charged with murder on April 3. He was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Wantage Magistrates' Court on April 5.
Police said the victim died of a stab wound to his neck at about 10.30pm on April 2.
Number 33 Roebuck Court is one of six terraced, two-bedroom houses, surrounded by blocks of flats built nearly 20 years ago.
Most residents are pensioners, young, single professional people or couples. The curtains were drawn and the property taped off as a team of police officers wearing white overalls searched the house. Police officers stood outside.
Neighbours said they knew nothing of the incident until a police helicopter hovered overhead late on Friday night and police cars with blue lights flashing descended on the street.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she "heard a commotion" coming from the house but did not want to say anything else.
Another neighbour, Anne Owen, said: "The first I knew something was wrong was when the police knocked on my door asking questions, although I did hear a helicopter overhead and I thought something was going on.
"This is a quiet street and there has never been any trouble, so this incident has come as a shock to a lot of people around here.
"I don't know the man who died because I believe he moved in only a few months ago."
