County council leader Keith Mitchell and senior executive member Don Seale yesterday survived demands for their resignation.
The call for Mr Mitchell to step down came from Labour group leader Liz Brighouse during exchanges at Oxfordshire County Council's annual meeting yesterday (April 6).
She said: "He has repeatedly gone on the record declaring that a head needs to roll because of the financial blunders. Well, shouldn't it be his?"
Mr Mitchell replied: "Not today."
The Labour group then opposed the re-appointment of Mr Seale as executive member for social and health care.
Last month, comments made by Mr Seale during a debate on funding prompted members of the public to storm out of a council meeting.
He said: "Most of the people in the county are not old and most of them do not have disabled children and disabled relatives. Most of the people in the county take the council tax burden with the minimum of fuss."
Leading the call for him to be dropped, Barbara Gatehouse said: "He hasn't a clue what's going on and it's the public who are suffering."
Mr Seale said: "I have no intention of resigning."
