Oxford City made a great start to their bid to return to the top flight of the Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League with a whitewash victory in their Section 2 clash at home to Chipping Norton.
City, relegated from Section 1 last year when they were reigning champions, had to battle before seeing off their visitors.
The first pairing of Dave Summers and Ian Bound beat Danny Hicks and Andy Johnson 2 & 1, while John Summers and Will Peddie scrambled home at the last against Stuart Allen and Luke Thorpe.
Only the final match proved comfortable for City as promising youngsters Adam Wootton and Mark Hall romped home 7 & 6.
In the same division, newly promoted Bicester went down 2-1 away to Brailes, despite a good win for Matt and Keith Bronsby.
The Oxfordshire began their Section 1 campaign with a 2 & 1 success at home to last season's title-contenders Ellesborough thanks to wins from Scott Hunt and James Shield, and Andy Stubbs and John Groszek.
Magnolia Park kept their unbeaten record in Section 3, with a remarkable 3-0 win at Rye Hill, although two of the matches went to the 18th.
Shrivenham Park recorded their second win in Section 4, winning 2.5-.5 at the Wychwood.
