Abingdon Tn 3, Chalfont St P 0: Joey Beauchamp scored twice as Abingdon kicked off the Easter weekend with a comfortable victory in Saturday's Ryman Division 2 clash.
The result was a welcome boost for Town after back-to-back away defeats.
But it was not all good news for the club, or indeed for the Beauchamp family, as Joey's brother, Luke, was given his marching orders just before the break.
Town's first real chance did not come until the 20th minute when good work from Matty Whitehead set up Stuart Douglas, but he was unable to get his shot on target.
On 24 minutes, Town had a good shout for a penalty turned down when Luke Beauchamp appeared to be sandwiched by two defenders.
Abingdon kept pressing, and they were rewarded two minutes later with a trademark goal from Joey Beauchamp.
The former Oxford United ace picked up the ball well outside the area on the right, before cutting on to his trusty left foot and firing past Jake Whincup from 20 yards.
Tom Butler headed just over after 32 minutes, and the home side were unlucky not to extend their lead five minutes later as Whitehead shot narrowly wide.
Both sides were reduced to ten men just before the break, when Chalfont's Matt Rolfe reacted aggressively to a strong tackle from Luke Beauchamp, who retaliated, leaving the ref little option.
Town made it 2-0 just before the interval through Butler's looping header.
Joey Beauchamp nearly made it 3-0 on 66 minutes. A superb run from just inside the Chalfont half saw him beat two defenders, only for Jake Whincup to save his shot.
But the ex-Oxford man wrapped things up on 85 minutes. Substitute Danny Clarke whipped in a cross from the left that was flicked on by Tim Barton for Beuachamp to head home from close range.
