A letter about The Good Book, The Bible, reminded me of a little story that made me smile.
An old boy was sitting on the bench of the village green about this time of the year.
It was untidy and overgrown so he decided to go home, collect his gardening tools and return to tidy it up, planting a few flower plants before he went home.
On a nice warm sunny day in June, he was again sitting on the bench, admiring what he had done.
The vicar came along, sat next to him and said: "It's a lovely day and the green looks beautiful. You know, it's amazing what God and man can do together."
The old boy, puffing gently on his pipe, replied: "I agree it's a lovely day, but you should have seen the village green when God had it to himself."
