Gary Slevin hit a hat-trick as Oxford City Stars restored some much-needed pride with a 7-5 win at play-off rivals Basingstoke Buffalo.
With Stars out of the running for the national final, coach Dan Prachar gave under 19 player Andy White his debut.
Slevin fired Oxford into the lead, but Basingstoke levelled through Anthony Page.
Slevin put Oxford ahead again, only for Simon Beere to equalise.
In the second half of the session, Oxford eased away with a goals from Darren Elliott and Prachar.
However, Buffalo replied with two goals in 13 seconds through Tom Pope and Beere's second.
With the score 4-4, Slevin completed his treble and Prachar made it 6-4, before Basingstoke hit back through Mark Jordan.
However, Elliott's second clinched victory for Stars.
