Matt Bound says Oxford United's players know they are under-perform-ing and need to turn things round immediately.
The U's are on a dismal run which has seen them pick up just one win from their last 12 matches, and to drop away tamely from the automatic promotion places in Division 3.
And their run of results has now left even a play-off place in the balance - something which Bound knows must change quickly, starting at Darlington on Saturday.
The defender, who made his first start under Graham Rix in Monday's 3-0 defeat at Torquay, says the change in style since the former Arsenal man took over from the suspended Ian Atkins is nothing to do with their results.
"That is just an excuse - we are the ones on the pitch and it is down to us," he said.
"We have got four games left now, so we will be going for four wins from them.
"We have all worked hard this season, and we don't want to throw it all away now.
"We are all very disappointed after the result at Torquay on Monday."
"Crozzer (Andy Crosby) getting sent off was a big turning point, but you have got to be big enough and bold enough to come together and dig out a result.
"We didn't do that, and all the goals we conceded were soft ones. We should have done better with them, but we didn't, and we got punished for that."
