Hastings Utd 1, Banbury Utd 0: Missed chances saw Banbury United's automatic promotion hopes suffer a blow as their 12-match unbeaten Dr Martens League Eastern Division run ended in Sussex outfit on Saturday.
The main culprit was the normally lethal Wayne Blossom, who spurned several good chances.
Banbury almost got off to a perfect start when a clearance from their keeper Chris May hit Banbury's Wayne Blossom in the face, only to go wide.
Minutes later, Blossom shot wide, while at the other end, Simon Tricker made a magnificent save from Chris Honey.
Blossom missed two good chances before his header was saved by May.
And from the corner, Blossom failed to connect when the ball twice fell to him in the area.
However, on 39 minutes, as mistake by defender Jason Allen allowed Honey to put Hastings ahead.
After the break, Paul Eldridge fired overbefore Banbury had appeals for a penalty rejected after Ollie Stanbridge appeared to be hauled down.
Three minutes from time, Stanbridge should have levelled but fired wide.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Fuller, Jackson (Simms 64), Sullivan, Allen, Eldridge, Stanbridge, Billington, Blossom, Redknap, Potter. Subs not used: O'Neill, Essex, Stidder, Brock.
Attendance: 349.
