Southern Counties North: Bicester finished bottom of the table after being destroyed 48-6 at Grove, who belied their lowly league position.

Despite the advantage of a strong wind, Bicester were six points adrift at half-time, after failing to convert some good possession into points.

The second half was a different story as, aided by a porous Bicester defence, the home team scored six of their eight tries.

Grove took the lead when Bicester's Chad Ward lost the ball and Grove centre David Johnson raced in by the posts for an unconverted try.

Bicester replied with two penalty goals from Alastair Smith to give them a one-point lead after 20 minutes.

Grove went back in front eight minutes before half-time, with a try from fly half Richard Williams, which he also converted.

Early in the second half, Grove prop Ben Lay linked brilliantly with Johnson to put winger George Rautenbach over in the right corner.

Then a lightning burst by winger Kevin Wood sent Williams over for his second try, which he also converted.

It was one-way traffic now, with Grove full back Nick Sevier and Wood each going over for a brace of tries.

Sevier landed two conversions, and influential centre Ben Dean added the final conversion kick from the touchline.

Witney had to settle for third place - one below the promotion play-off spot - despite their scintillating 56-10 victory at home to Phoenix.

A large crowd were entertained by nine Witney tries, six of them scored by the wingers.

Owen Fowler came in at No 8 and Witney and produced an excellent display, while Jez Hicks dominated the line-out.

Left wing Carl Strutt and right wing Henry Lamb each scored a brace of first-half tries, as Witney raced into a 39-0 lead by the interval.

Further scores came from tight-head prop Andy Gosling and centre Chris Murray, while Ollie Smith landed three conversions and a penalty.

In the second half, James Lamb came on for his twin, Henry, and scored two tries, while Marttin Lyall also scored a try.

Smith added another conversion.

Amersham & Chiltern beat Henley Wanderers 46-3 to finish runners-up, one point ahead of Witney.
