A village park costing more than £160,000 is to be developed in Sutton Courtenay - and villagers are being asked to help choose equipment for a new children's play area.
The parish council, Friends of Old Wallingford Way recreation ground and the Vale of White Horse District Council are joining forces to develop the park. Parish council chairman John Francis said it would be an impressive asset.
A grant of £91,500 has been awarded by a Government body called Living Spaces that supports neighbourhood groups with funds to develop and improve green spaces.
The environmental recycling body Wren that uses landfill tax credits to support projects has added £50,000 for a skatepark.
The district council is helping with planning, design and landscaping work estimated at £10,000 and the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership - a partnership of the police, district and county councils - is to provide a youth shelter costing £5,500.
Work is due to start this summer. When completed by the end of the year there will be a multi-use basketball and kick-about area, new play area, skatepark, and youth shelter.
Rita Atkinson, who is involved in the project said: "It became clear from talking to young people that there was a lack of recreational facilities."
