Enough is surely enough. Your relentless criticism of Oxfordshire County Council has gone beyond the bounds of responsible journalism to the point where it is likely to become a major disincentive to achieving the solutions to some of the problems the council faces in as timely and open a way possible.
Take the issue of the "£1m" bank account.
There is clearly a problem with some aspects of the council's financial and management information reporting systems.
It is not the first organisation -- public or private -- to face such problems.
They are problems you might find in many a conglomerate undergoing extensive organisational and cultural changes as the council is.
That doesn't make them any less serious -- accurate and timely management information is the lifeblood of any organisation and, in this case, essential to our accountability.
Constructive criticism is always welcome as part of the democratic process. But if you jump on every anomaly or error revealed as part of the transition from an old, imperfect system to something better with tabloid sensationalism and speculation, you will do lasting damage to the council's reputation, which is not justified.
My impression, as a 'new boy' on the council, is of an organisation which is coming together rather well after a period of extensive change.
Your seeking to perpetuate a culture of blame on the basis of rampant political posturing by some Labour councillors, rather than helping find solutions, is neither a service to the people of Oxfordshire nor, to be frank, good journalism.
