A charity auction is being held in memory of a 14-year-old schoolgirl killed in a hit-and-run accident on her way home from school.

Jenny Koester was struck by two vehicles on the A417 Wantage to Faringdon road on January 16 after getting off a school bus.

On Saturday, family, friends and regulars of the Blowing Stone Inn, in Kingston Lisle, near Wantage, where Jenny worked part-time, will auction sports memorabilia, including an England football shirt signed by team captain David Beckham.

The auction will raise money for the art department at Faringdon Community College, where Jenny was a pupil.

The pub's landlord, BBC Radio Five Live racing expert Luke Harvey, said bids would be taken on the night in person and by telephone on 01367 820288 from 7.30pm.

He added: "Jenny worked for us on Sunday mornings, clearing glasses, that kind of thing. We know she loved art and thought she would approve."

A police spokesman said the investigation of Jenny's death was continuing.
