Young Abingdon girl suffering from a life-threatening illness has had a dream come true - her garden is undergoing a makeover so that she can play in safety and enjoy her pet dog.

Leah Jeacock, seven, of Buscot Drive, Peachcroft, suffers from cystic fibrosis and has great difficulty breathing. She is on daily medication and has to have physiotherapy treatment as well as six-monthly visits to hospital to deal with chest infections.

Her mother Selina wanted to surprise her and wrote to the Children's Wish Foundation, a charity that grants the wishes of children suffering from serious illnesses - and the charity granted Leah's wish.

Mrs Jeacock said: "Leah drew up a list of three wishes - a loft conversion into a playhouse, a bedroom makeover or improvements to our garden and we chose the garden. It was a bit of a tip before because I have not had the time or money to devote to the garden.

"I'm a single mother with two other daughters to look after, so I have a lot to cope with, caring for a family and Leah's condition.

"Now we will have a decent garden and it will be safe for Leah to play in with her dog, Gypsy, who before used to escape through the hedge into the road.

"A playhouse painted bright pink is also being provided. I am so grateful to the Children's Wish Foundation for helping to bring a lot of happiness to Leah."

Leah will now be able to enjoy her new garden with her sisters Jasmine, aged nine, and Aylisha, 11.
